What is Alopecia? Symptoms and Treatments of Alopecia

Alopecia is heavy loss of hair from head or body. There would be two reasons for this 1) Genetic History 2) hormonal Imbalance 3) When Immune system disturbs structure of hair roots.

It would be different forms of hair fall. Which are assigned with different names such as Alopecia Universails, Alopecia Totalis, Alopecia Areata. Alopecia is not infectious. Mostly it would happen immune system disturbs structure of hair roots.

Alopecia Universalis is the condition we find hair loss on the body.

Alopecia Totalis is loss of hair on scalp.

Alopecia Areata is hair loss in patches.

Presently there is no particular cure for Alopecia Areata. But there are few treatments which helps in hair to grow back quickly and also it may reduce future hair loss.

Symptoms: The main symptom is loss of hair. Sometimes hair may fall in patches from the scalp.

How it is diagnosed?

Mostly a dermatologist may look at your hair structure they may understand your problem. The amount of hair loss and examined by collecting few hair samples under microscope and also biopsy is done whether you have prone to some fungal infections for this a skin sample from the scalp is collected and analysis and also few blood tests.
